Sligo minors begin Connacht title defence

Sligo minor gaelic footballers begin the defence of their Connacht Championship this Friday evening (April 29th) when they host Galway in Markievicz Park at 7pm.

It’s the first of four round-robin Connacht Championship games in this year’s competition.

The game will be broadcast live on Ocean FM from 7pm – and is also being streamed live by Connacht GAA.

Commentary comes from John Lynch and Martin McGowan.

Galway minors began their Connacht campaign last weekend with an impressive 3-19 to 1-12 victory over Roscommon.

Following the round-robin stage of the Connacht minor championship, the top-placed team will qualify directly for the provincial title with the second and third-placed teams contesting a semi-final.

Sligo famously ended a 63-year wait for a Connacht minor title last August when they beat Roscommon in the 2021 final at Dr Hyde Park.

This year’s Sligo minor team is managed by David Caffrey.
