Connacht LGFA intermediate championship holders have qualified for the 2022 provincial final following Friday evening’s 2-19 to 0-14 win over Sligo in Cloone.
Leitrim led by 2-9 to 0-7 at half-time, and despite having corner-back Siobhan McCartan sin-binned, they retained control of the game through to the finish.
Although Hugh Donnelly’s side were beaten by Clare in the round-robin series, their wins over Roscommon and Sligo mean they are already assured of a Connacht final place as the Banner girls aren’t eligible to contest the provincial decider should they finish in the top two at the end of the group stage.
Their opponents will be Roscommon, who beat Sligo last weekend – in what will be a repeat of the 2021 decider last December.
The Connacht intermediate football final is scheduled for Sunday May 15th.
