Ballinfull’s Finan wins inaugural Carney half-marathon



Ballinfull native Andy Finan was the inaugural Carney half-marathon winner on Easter Monday.

Finan, who is a member of North Sligo AC recorded a winning time of 01:19:23, just over three and a half minutes ahead of Longford AC’s John Scott in second place.

As well as Finan’s success, there was victories for Sligo athlete’s in each of the other races.

Strandhill’s Nicola Casey received the Gerry Moran Perpetual Trophy following her win in the women’s half-marathon.

Seamus Somers of Sligo AC retained his men’s 10K title he won in 2019, while North Sligo’s Linda Lally came out on top of a strong field to win the women’s 10K.
