Tributes paid to Donegal GAA stalwart John Murrin



The death has been announced of well-known Killybegs and Donegal GAA stalwart John Murrin.

He passed away at Sligo University Hospital on Thursday after an illness at the age of 71.

Murrin was widely known and respected in Donegal GAA and sporting circles.

He was a passionate Killybegs clubman and was an established umpire at both club and county level.

The ‘gentle giant’ was also well known in rowing circles in the county.

Former Donegal GAA intercounty referee Jimmy White worked with John at club and intercounty games for three decades.

He paid this heartfelt tribute to his close friend and chief umpire on Friday.
