A Leitrim Councillor has hit out at reports that the Leader of the Green party is planning to ban the sale and distribution of turf and peat products from the beginning of September this year.

Manorhamilton MD Councillor Padraig Fallon has tabled a motion for next week’s meeting of the Municipal calling for the local authority to contact all party leaders in this country’s requesting them to allow homes to burn turf and timber in a time of rising fuel costs.
Cllr Fallon says banning the burning of turf is madness.
