Sligo Councillor welcomes coordinated response to deal with Ukrainian refugee crisis.



A Sligo Councillor says local Authorities across the Country will face massive challenges when it comes to dealing with the to the Ukrainian refugee crisis.

 

Cllr Sinead Maguire says the Covid emergency response team should be reformed to deal with the crisis.

 

She added that the provision of a drop in center for refugees to reconnect and obtain necessary supports and information is vital.

 

The Sligo Strandhill Councillor has tabled a motion on the issue for today’s meeting of the Local Authority.

 

Cllr Maguire says accommodating refugees during a housing crisis will be challenging with numbers arriving in Sligo changing constantly.
