Tributes being paid to Sligo football star Red Óg Murphy



Tributes are being paid today to Sligo football star, 21 year old Red Óg Murphy who passed away suddenly yesterday.

Barry Gallagher, Chairman of his local club, Curry GAA Club, said their sympathies and thoughts are with his family and the clubhouse is ‘open to all’ to offer support, advice and guidance.

Sligo GAA have confirmed GAA activity in the South Sligo area has been postponed and said in a statement they were ‘deeply shocked’ at his untimely death.

The Gaelic Players Association said ‘players across Ireland have lost one of their own’

Tubbercurry Councillor, Martin Connolly says the Curry and wider community is ‘speechless’ at the news.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor Connolly says he was a ‘strong part of the football club and wider community.’
