Sligo/Leitrim Independent TD, Marian Harkin has called on the government to appoint a Minister responsible for Ireland’s response to the war in Ukraine.
Deputy Harkin says coordination is needed at local, county, regional and national level to appropriately and efficiently respond.
She made the comments in the Dail recently where she said the Irish people have responded to the crisis with generosity.
However, Deputy Harkin quoted the Taoiseach where he said the country was in a ‘war situation’ and believes a ‘wartime response’ is needed.
