56 people waiting on hospital beds in north west



There are 56 people waiting on hospital beds in the north west this morning.

 

32 are waiting in Sligo University hospital while the number in Letterkenny stands at 24.

 

When it comes to Emergency Departments there are currently 18 people waiting in Sligo and 10 in Letterkenny.

 

Across the County there are 497 patients are on trolleys.

 

It’s 73 fewer than this day last week, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

 

The highest figure today is in University Hospital Limerick, at 66.

 

Meanwhile the head of the HSE says the number of Covid patients in hospital is causing huge stress for the health system.

 

1,625 people with the virus are being treated – up more than 300 from this time last week.

 

HSE chief executive Paul Reid says it’s important to “turn the tide again” and do the basics like wearing a mask and isolating if you have symptoms.
