Donegal TD says Government are not addressing rising energy costs

A north west TD is accusing the government of sitting back and letting energy costs rocket without intervention.

Warnings are being issued that household energy bills could rise by around € 700 per family after a price hike was announced by Bord Gais.

They’re ending their ‘winter price pledge’ from April 15th and raising gas tariffs by 39% and electricity prices by 27%.

It’s expected other energy suppliers will follow suit.

Other energy providers are expected to increase their prices in the coming weeks, if not days, according to a consumer expert.

Electric Ireland has not ruled out an increase, saying it is exposed to the same wholesale electricity and gas prices.

Independent Donegal TD Thomas Pringle says he increases will push many homes to the pin of the collar to survive.
