St. Claire’s Clancy receives Ireland call-up

St. Claire’s Comprehensive School student Eanna Clancy has been named in Head Coach John McShane’s Republic of Ireland Under 18 Schools squad ahead of the side’s Centenary Shield meeting with Scotland on St. Patrick’s Day.

The game, which takes place at the grounds of Home Farm F.C. in Dublin is the Republic of Ireland’s first of the competition which also includes home games against Northern Ireland, away to England and Wales.

Clancy, who was voted Sligo Rovers Under 19 Player’s Player of The Year in 2021 is known for his versatility in both defence and midfield, with an eye for goal too.

His Sligo Rovers Under 19 teammate and Summerhill College student Conor Walsh is an absentee for the upcoming game against Scotland as he is involved with Colin O’Brien’s Under 17 squad. The Westport native may be called upon at a later date if his schedule permits.
