It’s hoped a new bridge will be built in the coming years to replace Lennox Bridge on the R280 on the Donegal/Leitrim border.
A recent road traffic collision damaged part of the wall sending it into the river which has repair works to be carried out this week.
The route will be closed from from 8am until 5:30pm for today and tomorrow. Local diversions will be in operation.
Speaking to OceanFM News, Leitrim Councilor Justin Warnock said the repairs need to be carried out to prevent any further damage.
