Former GAA President to lead Leitrim review

The former President of the GAA, Liam O’Neill, is leading a new review group in Leitrim which is undertaking a detailed examination of the county’s Gaelic Games structures from top to bottom.

O’Nell, who served as Uachtarán from 2012 to 2015 is a distinguished GAA administrator at county, provincial and national level.

The group was initiated by Leitrim GAA, but it will operate independently of the county board – and will consulte with at least 20 different interest groups across the Leitrim.

The new review committee includes Seamus Mallon, Padraig Leydon, Niall Murray (Aughnasheelin), Colin Regan (Melvin Gaels) and Eilish McGourty (Glenfarne/Kilty).

The group has already begun work and the project is expected to take several months to complete.

It will seek to create a blueprint for the future direction of Leitrim GAA – and will aim to anticipate the changes and challenges facing Leitrim GAA clubs in the years ahead.

Liam O’Neill will be a guest on ‘The Final Whistle’ this Thursday night (March 10th) from 8-9pm.
