Sligo University Hospital wins award for healthier food options



Sligo University Hospital has been rewarded for introducing healthier food for both staff and patients.

The Happy Heart, Healthy Eating Award, run in conjunction with the Irish Heart Foundation and the HSE awarded Sligo Hospital the Gold standard.

The programme aims to reduce fat, sugar and salt in meals while also increasing vegetable, salad and fruit selections.

Irish Heart Foundation CEO, Tim Collins presented the virtual awards and said the programme has proved to be a ‘highly effective way to tackle heart disease and stroke.’
