Leitrim and Donegal advance to league semi-finals

Despite drawing and losing respectively, Leitrim and Donegal qualified for the semi-finals of their respective divisions in the Lidl National Football League on Sunday afternoon.

Leitrim Ladies completed their Division 4A campaign with a draw with Antrim in Ballinamore. Róisín Fowley and Leah Fox scored the goals for Hugh Donnelly’s side as Leitrim must now prepare for a semi-final meeting with Offaly on Sunday, March 20th.

Elsewhere, despite defeat to Mayo, Donegal have qualified for the Division One semi-finals.

Shelly Twohig netted for Maxi Curran’s charges at Bekan. Donegal face Dublin in the semi-final on Saturday, March 19th.

Following two draws in the previous two rounds, Sligo faced Roscommon at St. Croan’s GAA Grounds at Enfield in Division 3A knowing a win would send them to the last four.

However, the home side built up a strong lead midway through the second half and unfortunately, from a Sligo point of view, despite a spirited fight back could not claw back the margin.

The defeat for Sligo, coupled with Down’s victory over Louth means the Yeats County’s finish third and their league campaign is over.
