The Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has strongly condemned the attack on a Garda which took place earlier this week outside Blacklion.
The Fine Gael leader says the attack was not just an attack on an unarmed garda but also an attack on on the entire Country.
The Tánaiste was responding to calls from Deputy Brendan Smith in the Dáil for greater resources to be allocated for border policing in this region.
The Cavan Monaghan TD outlined that although there is a good working relationship between the PSNI and An Garda Síochána there are many complex issues when it comes to policing in this region.
Leo Varadkar say the matter for greater resources being allocated to various garda divisions is a matter for the Garda Commissioner.
