Clare to play in Connacht Championship

The LGFA Central Council has voted to allow Clare to compete in the Connacht Intermediate Championship.

It is understood that the decision was taken at a meeting of the LGFA Central Council and that the Connacht counties voted against the motion, but the Central Council ruled that The Banner would become to fourth team in the competition which includes Sligo, Leitrim and Roscommon.

As Clare are the only intermediate county in Munster, Evan Talty’s side would have no provincial series before the beginning of the All-Ireland championship.

Both Sligo and Leitrim resume their league campaigns this weekend.

Following two successive draws, Anthony Brennan’s Sligo travel to St. Croan’s GAA Grounds in Enfield in search of their first win of the campaign away to Roscommon.

Reigning Connacht LGFA Intermediate champions Leitrim will look to maintain their 100% record when they host Antrim in Ballinamore on Sunday.

Both games throw-in at 2pm and live updates will be available on Ocean FM on Sunday afternoon.
