Yasmin Connolly signs for Sligo Rovers

Forward Yasmin Connolly has become the latest player to sign for Sligo Rovers’ Women’s team ahead their inaugural Women’s National League campaign.

Sligo town native Connolly spent nine years playing with local side Yeats United, while also playing for Sligo/Leitrim League teams between the ages of nine and seventeen.

She was part of the Ursuline College team that reached the All-Ireland semi final in 2017, a team that featured fellow Bit O’Red teammate Ruth Monaghan.

At the age of 18, Connolly joined Sion Swifts and played alongside Rovers teammate Amy Hyndman at the Strabane-based club.

An Irish and Geography student at DCU, Connolly expressed her delight to Sligorovers.com: “I am really looking forward to the season starting, the team has been working so hard together, and everyone is so excited to get going.”

Sligo Rovers Women’s Team begin their Women’s National League campaign on Saturday away to Peamount United at 5pm. You can hear the match live on Ocean FM in association with Bernie’s Beauty Salon.
