Donegal County Council has today confirmed that funding is to be provided this year to allow further progress on the Fintra Bridge and road realignment project.
The money, from the Department of Transport, will allow completion of the Compulsory Purchase process and as well as for preparation of the construction phase.
There’s been a long-running campaign for a new Fintra Bridge, between Killybegs and Glencolmcille, which is a key link to the entire Sliabh Liag Penninsula in Donegal.
Independent Councillor Niamh Kennedy says it’s hoped construction works on the bridge can start early next year.
