Sligo Rovers beat St Pat’s 2-1 in Dublin

Sligo Rovers have made a winning start to their 2022 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season following an impressive 2-1 win against St Patrick’s Athletic at Inchicore on Friday night.

Goals from Colm Horgan in the first half, and new signing Aidan Keena in the second, gave Liam Buckley’s side all three points.

Pat’s finished the game strongly after Tunde Owalabi pulled a goal back in the closing moments, but Rovers held on to deservedly claim the three points.

Colm Horgan gave Rovers the lead towards the end of the opening half after being picked out delightfully by Adam McDonnell’s curling left-footed cross.

Keena, who impressed throughout the game, scored Rovers second with a deflected shot which looped into the net.
