TUI concerned with removal of Covid restrictions

A local TUI representative is expressing concern over moves agreed by the government that will see the removal of all Covid restrictions from Monday.

The changes mean close contacts of someone with Covid who don’t have symptoms will no longer have to isolate.

The government’s also accepted advice to make masks optional on public transport and in shops and schools from next week.

Brendan Greene is a teacher in St Clare’s Comprehensive College in Manorhamilton and a Teachers Union of Ireland representative in the north west.

He says they are concerned about the removal of mask-wearing in schools, as well as other relaxations of Covid restrictions that he fears could impact on vulnerable people, be they students, teachers or people at home.
