Sligo TD expresses concern with continued eradication of public services

A Sligo Leitrim TD says the decision to permanently downgrade the National Driving Licence Service offices and replace personnel with information kiosks in Sligo’s Failte Ireland offices  is a further eradication of services to the general public.

Junior Transport Minister Hildegarde Naughten recently confirmed in the Dáil that the temporary Covid downgrading of National Driving Licence Service offices across the country as now been made permanent.

The walk-in service was originally discontinued to ensure social distancing and compliance with public health requirements. The service will now be provided on line version.

Meanwhile there are also fears that the Failte Ireland tourist offices in Sligo will be replacing personnel with information kiosks and information Points.

Sligo Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry says moves such moves will pose obstacles to the region developing to it’ full potential as well as inconveniencing those that do not partake in online activities
