Sligo’s Lee Deignan and Eoghan Smith were part of the DCU team that defeated UCC to win third-level college’s Fresher A Championship in Carlow on Thursday evening.
Both players contributed handsomely to the Dublin university’s victory with Shamrock Gaels’ Deignan scoring two goals and one point while Smith of Drumcliff/ Rosses Point helped himself to three points.
Deignan and Smith have been members of Sligo underage panels for the last number of seasons and both remain eligible for Dessie Sloyan’s Under-20 squad for the 2022 season.
Cloughaneely GAA’s Conor Coyle was also part of winning team, while John Quinn of Tourlestrane and Padraig McGettigan, a native of Letterkenny and St. Eunan’s were part of the management team.
