Funding allocation announced for Collooney safe crossing

An additional €350,000 in funding has been provided by Transport Infrastructure Ireland to advance the design, planning and appraisal for the construction of a safe crossing across the N4 at Collooney.

Residents in Collooney have been campaigning for the construction of the safe crossing since 2007.

The village of Collooney is divided by the N4 with challenges for pedestrians and motorists when it comes to crossing the N4.

Sligo Drumcliff Councillor Thomas Healy says the increased volume of traffic and continued population growth of Collooney has made the provision of a footbridge or an underground pass more essential ever.
