Investigations to be carried out for new water sources in north Sligo

A solution to the long running water issues in North Sligo could be in the offering.

The lack of a reliable water source in the areas has been highlighted on several occasions over the years.

Sligo Drumcliff Councillor Thomas Healy says Irish Water have committed to carrying out investigations to identify new water sources for the area.

4,000 households in areas such as Carney, Mullaghmore, Gortnaleck and Luke’s Bridge, could have their requirements catered for by the new supply.

Cllr Healy says the existing water service is no longer able to cater for the needs for a growing population in the area.
