Reports claim ‘Items of interest’ discovered during Garda searches in Sligo



 

Gardaí carried out a number of searches yesterday in the Skreen/Dromard area in relation to the recent aggravated burglary on Tom Niland.

 

The 73-year-old remains on life support in hospital after being viciously attacked by three masked men in his home in Skreen on January 18th.

 

The searches were conducted along the N59 between Doonflynn, Dromore West towards Lough Easkey

 

The Irish Independent are reporting  that a number of items of interest were recovered during the search and that these items could provide vital DNA evidence.

 

Meanwhile a Sligo Leitrim TD is calling for ‘a three pronged strategy’ of protection, detection and deterrent when it comes to dealing with the increasing number of burglaries in the north west.

 

Deputy martin Kenny says there a significant issue with early release and bail conditions for repeat offenders.
