Niamh McLaughlin to captain Donegal again in 2022



Niamh McLaughlin has been re-appointed as the Donegal LGFA senior football captain for the 2022 season.

The Moville clubwoman keeps the captaincy for the second successive year.

The 28-year-old physiotherapist make her intercounty debut for Donegal back in 2010 when she was part of Micheál Naughton’s All-Ireland winning intermediate football team.

She is also a talented soccer player and previously represented the Republic of Ireland at under-19 level.

McLaughlin played for Sunderland for a time in England.

Competitive action for Donegal begins this Saturday in the opening round of Division 1A of the Lidl national football league.

Maxi Curran’s side are in a four-team group along with Mayo and Westmeath.

The top two teams will qualify for the league semi-finals.

Kilcar’s Mark McHugh is part of the Donegal LGFA  coaching team this year.

Saturday’s game between Donegal and Galway will be broadcast live on Ocean FM from MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey at 7:30pm.

The match is also being televised live by TG4.
