Running a traditional style Leaving cert in 2022 is unfair on students



A former Leitrim Teacher and Vice- Principal is strongly criticising the decision taken by the Minister for Education to return to the traditional format of the Leaving cert in 2022.

 

Minister for Education Norma Foley is recommending a return to the written exam format, although there will be greater question choice on all the papers.

 

The Children’s Ombudsman, sixth year student groups and opposition parties had all called for a hybrid model like that used in the past two years.

 

Sean Wynne is a former vice Principal at Drumshanbo Vocational School he says this year’s leaving Cert Class have missed out on a lot of class time over the past two years, he says forcing them to sit a formal exam is unjust.
