Atlantic Technological University gets Dáil approval

The Dáil has approved the merger of GMIT, LKIT and IT Sligo to form the Atlantic Technological University from April 1st.

Late last year approval was given to the merger by the Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris.  The merger was approved in the Dáil last night.

In 2022 graduates of the 3 college campuses will do so with University Qualifications.

The Atlantic Technological University will offer almost 600 academic programmes from pre-degree to doctoral level.

Sligo Leitrim TD and Minister of State, Frank Feighan says the Atlantic University will help to strengthen the economic potential of the region.
