A Sligo Councillor is calling for the urgent reviews for children with Spina Bifida.

There are 82 children in Ireland with Spina Bifida currently requiring urgent Orthopaedic intervention.

Sligo independent Councillor is calling on the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly to instigate the matter.  She recently tabled a motion on the issue at a meeting of Sligo County Council.

Cllr Casserly says the Lack of surgical intervention has caused the limbs and bodies of those living with the condition to become deformed and maimed.

She’s calling for any operations of this nature that have been delayed to take place immediately.
