Stop start: Concern over traffic lights at Sligo town junctions

Complaints about traffic lights in and around Sligo town remaining green for only very short periods was raised at this week’s meeting of councillors from the Sligo borough district in the town hall.

It’s been claimed that because motorists fear lights will switch colour very quickly, accidents have occurred.

However, councillors were told the system was now operating more efficiently and driver behaviour would have to change, with motorists needing to keep an eye on the lights and not, for example, looking on their phones.

Solidarity People Before Profit Councillor Gino O Boyle says the problem has been occurring at a number of junctions in Sligo town.
