An extension to the emergency department at Sligo University Hospital began operating today.
Construction has been ongoing over the last 10 months at a cost of €3.2m.
Grainne McCann, General Manager at the hospital says while it won’t increase their capacity to treat additional patients, facilites for both patients and staff are greatly improved.
Speaking to OceanFM News, she gives a breakdown of what the new extension means for both staff and patients.
Grainne also says there is works continuing for the next few months in the existing Emergency Department.
