St Pat’s outclassed by Kilmeena in Connacht junior final



There was to be no final fairytale for St Pat’s of Sligo in Saturday’s AIB Connacht junior club football final at Markievicz Park as they were overwhelmed by an impressive Kilmeena of Mayo, on a final scoreline of 1-18 to 0-5.

The Mayo champions dominated this game from start to finish, establishing a 0-10 to 0-2 half-tine lead.

Niall Ryan’s goal for Kilmeena straight from the restart, quickly extinguished any hopes of a St Pat’s revival as the west Sligo side simply had no answer to the tenacity, movement and firepower of their Mayo opponents.

Joint managers Micheál Clarke and Adrian Kearins tried to make some sense of the result when they spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Austin O’Callaghan after the game:
