There has been success for the North West Success in 2021 Clean Coasts Ocean Hero Awards.
Sligo based Martina Butler has won the Think Before You Flush Award in Clean Coasts Ocean Hero Awards 2021.
She was success for launching a public awareness campaign about the problems these items can cause in our marine environment and our wastewater systems if they are flushed.A further three Sligo groups were shortlisted in two other Ocean Hero categories:
Our Crossings was shortlisted in the Enjoy and Protect Award category, Killaspugbrone was shortlisted for the Beach Clean Bubble Award and Keep Sligo Clean was shortlisted in the #2minutebeachclean Leader Award.
Leitrim based volunteer Martina Healy was shortlisted for her #2minutebeachclean entry which highlighted the use of social media in helping to make changes and actions that will contribute to the planet’s wellbeing.
2021 saw three Donegal groups be shortlisted across three categories.
These included Friends of Rossnowlagh for the Group of the Year category, Clare Wall (a member of Friends of Rossnowlagh) in the Individual of the Year category and Scoil Mhuire Buncrana in the Youth of the Year category.
