Ocean FM has recorded a huge rise in listenership in the past year, according to the latest national radio listnership survey.
Its Market Share figure has increased by an unprecedented 15% since this time last year, according to the JNLR-MRBI figures, which have been published today.
Market Share measures the percentage of all radio listening hours within a franchise area, so the figures indicate people are listening to Ocean FM in greater numbers, and for much longer.
Meanwhile, Ocean’s weekday listenership rate has also increased by 3%, up now to 52%, which is the third highest local radio station rating in Ireland.
The 52% figure rate compares with 23% for RTE Radio 1, 15% for Today FM, 11% for 2FM and 9% for Newstalk, in this franchise area.
The figures also reveal that 66% of all people living in the franchise area of Sligo-North Leitrim-South Donegal now tune in to Ocean FM every week.
