A Sligo Councillor is calling for the creation of a Digital Lab for Children in Sligo Town.
Sligo Drumcliffe Councill Thomas Walsh says digital labs operating throughout the country are engaging young people through a range of digital mediums.
The lab would aim to teach children and young people digital skills such as computer coding, 3d art music production and more.
Councillor Walsh is calling on Sligo Council to engage with stakeholders such as Foroige, The Local Enterprise Office, MSLETB, Economic Department within LA, Sligo Leader with a view to create such a digital space.
He says the creation of such a lab would have a positive influence on young people’s mental health and help them to secure the knowledge, skills and experience they need for their future learning.
