Action must be taken to address anti-social behaviour at the Mall in Sligo

Monday’s meeting of Sligo County will hear calls for measures to be put in place to address incidents of anti-social behaviour at the Mall in Sligo.

Sligo Strandhill Councillor Sinead Maguire has tabled a motion for the monthly meeting of the local authority calling for a forum of stakeholders to be established.

She says such a forum would include representatives from An Garda Síochána, IT Sligo, residents and business owners.

The Fine Gael councillor is also calling for signage to be erected along the Mall to remind people that this is a residential area.

She said there have been two instances of cars being written off due to damage caused by people on a night out.

Speaking to Ocean FM Cllr Maguire says some people are afraid to leave their homes at particular times.
