A Sligo councillor is calling for a new action plan to revive a town that had traditionally been a vibrant centre of business and commerce for south Sligo and its hinterland.
Fine Gael Councillor Dara Mulvey said Ballymote had a great record for community projects but this appears to have waned in recent years.
He is now seeking help in establishing a new vibrant community organisation that would be a catalyst for the development and promotion of various projects.
Cllr Mulvey says Ballymote has many fine facilities that could be rejuvenated, one example being the distinctive Art Deco Theatre in the town.
