Sligo councillor wants spending divided fairly between districts

A Sligo councillor is calling for a system to be put in place to ensure all three municipal districts in the county gets a fair share of expenditure and investment.

Fianna Fail Councillor Donal Gilroy says the vast majority of expenditure goes to the Sligo/Strandhill Municipal District, which incudes the former Sligo borough area.

But Cllr Gilroy says while he accepts Sligo is a regional growth centre, he wants the shareout of spending to divided more fairly in council budgets for the coming years..

And he says this applies to all sectors, including housing and various services.
