Donegal GP warns that Delta strain needs to addressed before we worry about Omicron



A Donegal GP is warning that although people are right to be concerned over the ‘Omicron variant’ of Covid-19, more focus should be placed on looking to suppress the number of cases that are currently being registered all over the country.

 

The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet the Coalition party leaders today, to discuss the new Omicron variant.

 

The World Health Organisation says it’s not yet clear whether infection with Omicron causes more severe disease compared to other variants, including Delta.

 

3,735 new cases of Covid 19 were confirmed, with 576 people in hospital last night, including 117 in ICU.
