Rovers draw with Bohs, Finn Harps win 5-0

Sligo Rovers rounded off their 2021 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division campaign on Friday night with a 1-1 draw at home to Bohemians.

Johnny Kenny, voted the club’s Young Player of the Season, gave Rovers a 16th minute lead with an exquisite finish.

But Bohemians earned a share of the spoils when substitute (and Donegal native) Georgie Kelly finished a good Bohs move to the net in the 78th minute.

Defender John Mahon was presented with the club’s Senior Player of the Season award before kick-off.
Kenny, as well as the Young Player accolade, also collected the BORST Player of the Season award, which was presented to him by his dad, Johnny (Senior).

However Derry City’s 2-1 win in Dundalk meant Bohs finish fifth in the table and miss out on an automatic European place via their league position. They will now need to beat St Patrick’s Athletic in the forthcoming FAI Cup final to qualify for Europe.

Elsewhere, Ollie Horgan’s Finn Harps produced one of their performances of the season to beat Longford Town 5-0 and secure their Premier Division status for next season.

Goals from Will Seymore, Ryan Connolly, Karl O’Sullivan, Tunde Owalabi and Luke Rodden sparked great scenes of celebration.

Waterford’s 0-0 draw with St Pat’s consigns them to the promotion/relegation play-off against UCD, who beat Bray Wanderers 2-0 in the First Division play-off final.

Friday night’s results
