Glenfarne/Kilty lose junior final – but season’s not over

Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher’s hopes of regaining the Leitrim junior ‘A’ football championship title on Sunday were dashed by an impressive Mohill side on Sunday, who ran out winners by 2-10 to 1-4 in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Despite the loss, the north Leitrim club will be the county’s representatives in next month’s Connacht junior club championship – as they are the last ‘first team’ club standing in the competition.

They are scheduled to play Sligo junor champions St Pat’s in a quarter-final clash.

Glenfarne/Kilty manager Aidy McCallion spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s PJ Leddy after Sunday’s final:

Elswhere, Melvin Gaels lifted the junior ‘B’ championship title with a 2-10 to 0-5 win over Allen Gaels.

On Saturday, Dromahair completed a remarkable season for the club by winning the junior ‘C’ title with a 1-8 to 0-5 success over Kiltubrid.
