More Breast Check services needed for Co. Donegal

A Donegal TD believes more Breast Check services are needed to cater for the county.

Independent Deputy, Thomas Pringle, raised concerns in the Dail recently calling for the unit in Donegal Town to made permanent.

A second Breast Check unit was deployed in the town but only on a temporary basis which has now stopped operating.

Deputy Pringle says figures supplied to him by the HSE show the number of women waiting to be screened in Co. Donegal has risen to 6,800.

He says due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the screening for breast cancer is almost a year behind which needs to addressed urgently.
