Letterkenny University Hospital second most overcrowded today



Letterkenny University Hospital has the second highest number of patients in the country waiting for a bed today.

Forty-eight patients — made up of 38 in wards and 10 in the emergency department — are waiting in the hospital.

Only University College Hospital Galway, with 54, has more patients waiting.

There are 21 patients waiting in Sligo University Hospital, 17 of whom are in the emergency department and four in wards.

In hospitals throughout the country today, 449 hospital are waiting to be allocated a bed.

A total of 33 patients are receiving treatment for Covid-19 in both hospitals today.

15 are in Letterkenny University Hospital and a further 18 are in Sligo University Hospital.
