Local Authority to consider a number of issues before CCTV cameras can be installed at Sligo Cemetery

Sligo County Council says there are a number of issues to be considered if CCTV cameras were to be installed at Sligo cemetery.

Concerns include the exact purpose of the cameras, if they are necessary and the security of them.

Senior Engineer Emer Concannon told a recent meeting of councillors from the Sligo Borough Municipal District there was also the issue of transparency in relation to informing people they were being recorded.

She was responding to a call from Fianna Fail Councillor Tom MacSharry for CCTV cameras to be installed at the cemetery.

Cllr MacSharry has been telling Ocean FM News why he thinks cameras are necessary.
