Sligo colleges receive funding to support mental health among students



Over 700,000 euros worth of funding has been allocated to IT Sligo and St Angela’s College.

Nationally €17.2m has been announced in student supports, with €5m being allocated to support students mental health and wellbeing.

The Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris TD earlier confirmed the funding.

IT Sligo will receive €615,350 while St Angela’s College has been allocated €116,981 under the scheme.

Sligo Leitrim TD and Minister of State at the Department of Health Frank Feighan says the funding will assist with the recruitment of assistant psychologists and will raise awareness around mental health and wellbeing services that are available to students in the north west:
