Tánaiste visiting Sligo and Leitrim today



The Tánaiste Leo Varadkar is due to visit Sligo and Leitrim today to launch two business ventures with the potential to create at least 125 new jobs.

This afternoon, Mr Varadkar, who is also Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, will turn the sod for a new €1.9m government-funded digital gaming hub at Strand Campus in Strandhill, Co Sligo.

The Digital Gaming Hub will provide workspace, mentoring and access to various programmes to help entrepreneurs start and develop innovative tech businesses.

The hub is expected to create 100 new jobs on site in 20 Sligo-based companies.

A further 40 companies wlll be supported through a digital games cluster created around Strand Campus.

This morning, Mr Varadkar will officially open the Shed Distillery Experience in Drumshanbo, a €3.5m investment by the makers of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin.

Twenty-five new jobs will be created this year at the Shed Distillery Experience, bringing the total number employed to 75.
