Significant funding needed in Budget 2022 for the north west



The Northern and Western Regional Assembly is calling for a significant stimulus package in Budget 2022 to revitalise the economy in the region.

In its pre-budget submission, the NWRA has highlighted the economic challenges facing the North-West of Ireland and how the region’s economy is being left behind.

The report references issues such as the European Commissions decision to downgrade the north west from a ‘Developed Region’ to a ‘Transition Region’, and shows how capital spending on higher education was below the state norm in 8 out of the last 11 years.
