Tánaiste expects funding issues at Sligo Airport will be resolved

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar says it’s anticipated the funding issues surrounding Sligo Airport will be ‘resolved shortly’.

Independent Sligo/Leitrim TD, Marian Harkin raised the issue in the Dáil yesterday evening where she said the busiest coast guard in the country is operated out of Sligo yet it has not received any public funding in the last 10 years.

She said while there are no commercial flights, the same can be said for a number of other airports around the country yet they do receive funding.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar also emphasised there is no threat to the search and rescue service in Sligo.
