Local soccer games in Sligo-Leitrim at adult and youth level have been cancelled this week.
It’s understood that the governing body for refs nationally – the Referees society – has suspended the local Sligo-Leitrim branch and directed them not to make themselves available for games, pending the resolution of an issue surrounding sanctions imposed on match officials.
There are 24 registered soccer referees in Sligo-Leitrim.
Noel Kennedy of the Sligo-Leitrim league updated Austin O’Callaghan on the non-availability of local referees for soccer games this weekend.
